First in Church History?

So, last Sunday I was asked if I would be willing to give a talk in church today. I was kind of nervous but thought it would be cool to quote one of the best authors of all time, Dr Suess. Charity will appreciate this.

Ode to the Zode

Did I ever tell you about the young Zode,
Who came to two signs at the fork in the road?
One said to Place One, and the other, Place Two.
So the Zode had to make up his mind what to do.
Well... the Zode scratched his head, and his chin and his pants
And he said to himself, "I'll be taking a chance
If I go to Place One. Now, that place may be hot!
And so, how do I know if I'll like it or not?
On the other hand though, I'll be sort of a fool
If I go to Place Two and find it too cool.
In that case I may catch a chill and turn blue!
So, maybe Place One is the best, not Place Two,
But then again, what if Place One is too high?
I may catch a terrible earache and die!
So Place Two may be best! On the other hand though...
What might happen to me if Place Two is too low?
I might get some very strange pain in my toe!
So Place One may be best," and he started to go.
Then he stopped, and he said, "On the other hand though...
On the other hand... other hand... other hand though..."
And for 36 hours and a half that poor Zode
made starts and made stops at the fork in the road.
Saying, "Don't take a chance. No! You may not be right,"
Then he got an idea that was wonderfully bright!
"Play safe!" cried the Zode. "I'll play safe. I'm no dunce!
I'll simply start out for both places at once!"
And that's how the Zode who would not take a chance
Got no place at all with a split in his pants.

So being as my talk was over Personal Revelation I had to make this tie in. So, I talked about how the Zode relied on himself instead of relying on Heavenly Father for guidance. At the end of my talk I took some poetic license and changed the end of the poem. Reading the entire poem but substituting in the follow at the end.

And for 36 hours and a half that poor Zode
Made lists and made charts at that fork in the road.
Saying, "I will ponder and reflect to know what is right,
In order for me to receive the Lord's light.
So, the Zode got down on his knees that day,
And prayed for guidance so he could be on his way.
He got an answer through a still small voice,
"Go to Place One, that is the right choice."
So with peace in his heart, and with a pep in his step,
He knew his love for the Savior had grown in depth.

RIP Squirrel

RIP SQUIRREL
On the way to work this morning, I had the unfortunate experience of hitting a squirrel as it tried to cross four lanes of traffic going 70 miles per hour. Rest on Peace Squirrel and please forgive me for murdering you.

Awesome hair

So, Zeke needed to get a bath and hair cut badly. When I say badly, I mean BADLY!!!!! His white was no longer white and his hair was all stiff. I could have given him a bath at the apartment but it was about time for him to get in and get a haircut. He was starting to fluff again. I think he believes he is a sissy when his hair looks like a puff ball. I wish I would have taken some before pics but here are some afters. I never give him the traditional spaniel cut because I love his top knot toooooo much. So, that always stays long and the rest short. Some time I will have to spike it so you all can see it spiked. He really is an awesome dog.

Haircut

So, I decided to get a haircut today. Last haircut I got was back in June? I think and Charity gave it to me. She did a great job. But, it started to get long again and I started to get headaches back. So, I thought I would go somewhere and get it cut and thinned. In the process, my hair looks better than it has in a long time. In the pictures you will see how shinny it is. And that is really how shinny it looks. I love that. So, I splurged and bought the expensive shampoo, conditioner, and straightening cream. We shall see how this goes.

Sorry for the goofy angles but I was taking the pictures myself. This is the front/side view.

Here is the semi-back view of the haircut.

Let me know what you think!!!

Invites to a Shin-Dig

I have decided to have a Shin-Dig at my place. Here are the invites which I have been working on. Let me know what you think.
The overal front view. Sherry can up with the idea for the strap. Just a nice added touch. In the picture below you can barely make out, thanks to the flash, that my address is written around the lens. Cute idea!!

The information for the party will be written in the display field. I think these turned out really cute. Thank you Martha Junior for you help in designing them.

Annie McGarrah RIP

Two weeks after moving to Richmond I had to put Annie to sleep so that she could be out of pain. She is dearly missed. This was one of the hardest decisions which I have ever had to make.

Dogs in the back seat

Just some pictures of the dogs in the back seat. Don't know how good they are. Hope you enjoy.
Here is a picture of Annie laying out in the back seat. You can see a little bit of Zeke. Annie really had a hard time getting in and out of the car. I felt really bad for her.
Zekey hiding from the sun. He had a hard time finding a place where he could sleep without his face in the sun. Poor baby.

Move to VA

So, If you didn't know this, in June I moved to Virginia. This was a great move for me. I really have enjoyed the move. Marcus was kind enough to travel out to Virginia with me, then I flew him back home. I packed up my car, loaded the dogs in the back seat, and headed out. 3 major car crashes, 1 trashy hotel, $150 in gas, 10 potty stops for the dogs, and 18 hours of driving later we arrived in Virginia.

My new job put me up in corporate housing for four months and pays for everything. And I mean everything. Rent, utilities, cable, internet, plus I get a stipend every payday to cover food and gas. More pictures later of the apartment.

The new job is wonderful. I love my team and my job. I have learned a lot since moving here.

On the trip here I saw this sign and thought of Sherry. Thought I would post it so you all could enjoy it with her. I actually pulled over and took the picture.
